Bree Proffitt
Associate Pastor of Children's Worship

Background
Born: Amarillo, TX
Family: Daniel (husband)
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Communications & English, Texas A&M University (Class of '06)
Hobbies: Writing, playing guitar, running, baking, traveling with my husband
Salvation: Summer of 1990 at New Beginnings Retreat Facility
Title and Responsibilities: Associate Pastor of Children's Worship. I cover all aspects of worship in the Children's Ministry, meaning I lead worship as well as develop and raise up worship teams and leaders.
On my Playlist: Brooke Fraser's “Albertine” album, “Love Song” by Jason Morant, Tristan Prettyman, A Fine Frenzy, Hillsong, Coldplay
What fascinates me: Despite the ways I've seen Him work in my life, and despite the Truth of who I know Him to be, I still sometimes underestimate God's ability to be God.
FAVORITES
Book: Cobalt Pink . . . it's a 350-page book of letters my husband and I wrote to one another when we were first getting to know each other. It's fun for us to look back on now that we're married, and there's only one copy, which makes it a special edition!
Person: My husband Daniel
Food: Sushi and pancakes. But not together.
Musical Artist: Brooke Fraser
TV Show: Anything on HGTV or TLC. Or The Office.
Movie: Dan In Real Life, The Count of Monte Cristo
Actor: Steve Carell, Michael Kane, Mel Gibson, Leonardo DiCaprio
Actress: Cate Blanchett, Julie Andrews, Keira Knightly, Emma Thompson
Place to Pray: In my cozy living room chair, or driving alone in my car early in the morning or after dark. There's something intimate about those two places.
Sports team: The Aggies, of course. Even when they're having a bad day.
BESTS
Best advice given to me: Be Yourself. In a world where we are constantly faced with pressures to be somebody or do something, the best thing I can be is who God created me to be, and no one else. That piece of advice challenges me and encourages me every day.
My life motto: "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter" —E.E. Cummings . . . I have been told I have an infectious laugh, and I do use it generously every single day. I've seen that laughter can bring healing, joy, comfort, and camaraderie—especially when it comes from deep within your soul.
Three people I would like to have dinner with: My brother Britton, because we don't get to see each other a lot, Darlene Zchezch, to hear her heart for worship, and Stacey & Clinton from What Not To Wear—so they could check for fashion faux pas.
An interesting fact about me: In 2006 I played the lead role of Elsie McClean in the musical “Texas.”
My heroes: My mom. She passed away in 2004 after a 13-year battle with breast cancer, and I have never known someone so faithful, courageous, and fierce in her relationship with the Lord. I still discover things about her today that cement the fact that she will be my heroine for life.
